“Chukwujidemkamnyarida” (Igbo- Hold me Lord, let me not fall), Sentence, song and more recently baby name.
In Africa, particularly Nigeria (West Africa) we find babies named according to the situation of their birth, current condition of the family, and some named after a prayer not according to a car or a holiday .
Long gone are the days when babies were named mostly because the names sounded “cute”, the world seeks substance and significance, as cuteness has saved nobody really. But hey, if along the line of substance, cuteness is found….awesome.
The name above, I found completely weird when I heard it years ago, but the older I grew , the more I realized that the name of a thing goes beyond the purpose of identity, but a declaration of what is to happen with and around such a thing.
The worry about how lengthy the name was came to mind too, but then creativity stepped in right on time, and there was “Jidem” for the baby boy , “Yarida” for the baby girl.
What really is your excuse? Use your language .Express yourself.
