The relief I felt when my brother finally started crawling, it was like more bliss for me than it was for him. I didn’t have to carry him up and about the whole place anymore. However, extra care should be given now your baby is crawling, so he doesn’t crawl his way into danger.
Babies usually start crawling between 6 and 13 months old. They are usually able to get into a crawling position on their hands and knees between 6 and 9 months, and will probably be rolling around and crawling on their tummies, called ‘commando crawling’, by around 8 months.
The house can be made “crawling friendly”
By getting involved in the process as a parent; spend more time on the floor with your child.
Play “reach out” with your child; place an object of their interest a small distance from them and then ask them to go get it. Children learn faster from playful things. (I bet we already knew that)
Make way; get rid of, as much as possible any furniture that will be in the way of your child’s crawling. You can replace it when they start walking, but right now they do not need that kind of obstacle.
Finally, baby walkers WILL NOT encourage your baby to crawl. Get rid of that thing.
