Wednesday turned out to be a very special day for 12-year-old Norah Carter after a day-long visit to the 911th Airlift Wing in Coraopolis.
Carter, 12, suffers from an undiagnosed genetic disorder characterized by multiple orthopedic abnormalities. She underwent six major orthopedic surgeries and was recommended to be a pilot for a day by the staff at Allegheny General Hospital.
“This is amazing. I never thought I’d be able to do anything like this,” Carter said.
Throughout the day, Carter underwent parachute training and was sworn-in as an honorary Air Force Reserve 2nd lieutenant. After being sworn in, she held a press conference.
