Crushing weight: Jacob’s story
Jacob Miller has fought obesity almost all of his life. He was born five weeks prematurely, but if he had been carried to term, he would’ve been delivered at 12 lbs.
When he was one years old, he weighed 52 lbs. At 15, he stood 6-foot-5 and weighed his heaviest, 707 lbs. By the time he was a teenager, he was gaining 100 pounds a year. His weight was killing him, literally. There wasn’t much health professionals could do if Jacob hadn’t tried to help himself first. That’s when he realized it was time he did something about it.
Born with a disorder
Jacob has had a biological disorder since he was a baby and it eventually led to an eating disorder and he started gaining weight at a rapid pace.
A lifetime of obesity
Jacob was always the “big boy” in school, in his classes, and everywhere he went. It became a serious situation when he grew into his teenage years.
Parents sought help
His parents reached out to doctors, but they couldn’t find the help they needed. In the end, they had to consider surgery when Jacob’s weight almost cost him his life.
Surgery saved his life
Serious about losing weight, Jacob lost 77 lbs before his surgery. And six months after his operation, Jacob went from a size 10x shirt to a 5x.
Now, Jacob is diabetes-free, his waistline has decreased dramatically and he works out every day. He continues to stay on his journey to more weight loss.
