With temperatures in Tempe, Arizona soaring to 37C. a little baby who had only been in the world for several hours was already deemed not wanted and later abandoned in a public parking space.

The  pretty baby girl was found by a passer-by and reported to staff at Food City who then phoned the police.

Amazingly the baby’s umbilical cord was still attached when the 911 call was made. Cops said the tot was just a few hours old when she was discovered wrapped in a blanket outside a supermarket.

A tape of this has been released by the police.

Emergency services handlers can be heard asking the man to let them hear the baby’s cries.

She was then taken to hospital and is reportedly in good health.

Arizona Department of Child Services are now caring for the child.
