A mother’s love for her son knows no bounds. After a mother’s eight-year-old son was made fun of in public for having congenital melanocytic nevi, a condition that affects less than 1% of all children, she decided to take the high road instead of the low road.

Meet eight-year-old Erez Gaon, who has having congenital melanocytic nevi.

If it weren’t for his skin condition, you wouldn’t notice anything different about this little boy.

He’s happy, excited, and loves his dog just as much as anyone else out there. Unfortunately, though, when someone who looks different enters this world, it usually isn’t too kind to them.

Here is a photo of another child with congenital melanocytic nevi. As you can see, the buildup of moles on the body can be quite heavy.

Like the child in this photo, Erez also has a very large mole on his back. Not only does Erez have moles covering his body, the condition affects his spine and brain. After several surgeries, the boy has been able to cope and currently attends a special needs school.

Over the last eight years, his mom Ruthi noticed how people would make fun of her son’s spots. But after one incident out in public, she had had enough.

Instead of lashing out at the two, she decided to take the high road…

One day out in public, Ruthi caught a woman and her daughter looking at Erez. After the woman’s daughter started laughing at him, the mother joined in.

Of course, Ruthi felt incredible anger at the mother who laughed at her son. What Ruthi did to respond to these rude individuals was even more impactful than confronting them in person.

Ruthi put spots on her face and took a silly selfie with Erez as a show of support.

The selfie started getting a lot of positive attention online. In a post, she said, “I swear I got used to people staring at you, the comments behind our back, the sad fact is that no matter how much we talk of inclusion and acceptance the different remains excluded and will always draw attention.”

After hearing about the horrible situation Erez was put through, the world came together and showed some incredible support.

Here is a photo all the way from Brazil where a family put dots on their faces as Ruthi had done.

The mocking is sad. It’s a shortcoming of the learned mentality of mankind to mock someone that doesn’t fit their mindset of normal. We all have differences, some seen…some unseen. It’s not the outer appearance that should be the subject of any conversation…examine the character, the inner man; that’s where the real person resides. Remeber as you mock others that your life has not ended, therefore you could end up on the receiving end of mocking. Akways have empathy and apathy for the blessed gift of life we call mankind.
