newborn baby saved from Hurricane Harvey floodwater has returned to the boat she was rescued on for an emotional first photoshoot.

Hope Chimeno was just ten days old when she was plucked to safety along with her family amid rapidly rising floodwaters in Houston, Texas.

Emily and Levi Chimeno managed to flag down the Cajun Navy, private boat owners turned volunteers during the disaster, to help them escape the unprecedented flooding.

“This little love, perfectly named Hope, was rescued from her home in Orange Texas in this very boat,” photographer Noelle Mills told Love What Matters.

“She was rescued at just ten days old. We thought it would be fitting to do some of her newborn photos in that boat. It was my absolute honour to document these for her family.”

A house is submerged up to its roof by floodwaters from Tropical Storm Harvey in Lumberton, Texas.

The group travelled five hours by boat to a shelter in Louisiana where a volunteer concerned about the young family took them into her home.

“We were blessed again and again by the people of Louisiana, and Hope is our little hero because people have extra compassion when a tiny baby is involved,” Ms Chimeno told the Beaumont Enterprise.

“I believe Hope’s story, including all of the amazing Louisiana folks along the way, is a great reminder that it’s the people that matter in life, not the stuff.”
