WARNING: DISTURBING CONTENT. A nurse has been criticised after she was filmed accidentally knocking a newborn baby to the ground on his head.

Footage released by Beijing lawyer Yi Shengua shows the nurse pushing a stroller with a baby inside at a postpartum care centre in China on July 16.

She’s seen pushing the stroller towards a colleague with one hand, and letting go before the stroller topples and the baby falls out.

According to the Mail Online, the incident took place at the Puruming Care Centre in Yanji, northeast China.

While a spokesperson at the centre said the nurse was an experienced medical professional and the baby was unscathed, the family is set to launch a lawsuit next week labelling the nurse “extremely irresponsible”.

The family’s lawyer, Wang Xi, said the baby was 19 days old.

Mr Yi, the Beijing lawyer, has questioned whether the centre would have lied about the baby’s fall had the footage not been released.

A care centre spokeswoman told Pear Video the nurse had previously worked as a deputy director of the hospital for more than 30 years.

“The baby was unscathed. A CT scan at the People’s Hospital showed no damage had been caused to the brain,” she said.

“After all, human beings are not gods. There would be times when accident happens.”

But Ms Wang said while the CT scan showed no damage, the checks could not guarantee the baby’s neurological health.

Although mistakes do happen as a parent I would be highly upset if this was to happen to my child.

Regardless if the baby has been deemed unscathed or not, this is careless behavior that should not be allowed present in the medical field. I think the family is making the right move by pursuing a lawsuit against the facility.
