SISTERS who clung to each other in life and death have been farewelled in an emotional service at Loganholme.

Two small coffins, one purple and one blue, carried Patricia and Taya Young who drowned in the family’s backyard pool last week.

Through tears, parents Renise and Troy Young spoke of their heartbreak at the public memorial at the Tudor Park PCYC which was attended by a crowd of about 100.

“I watched them grow, I watched them laugh, I watched them stumble and cry,” Mrs Young said.

“In their last moments they hugged each other in the pool. It showed how much they cared for each other.”

Taya Young 4yrs.

Songs from Disney’s Frozen were played, the stage was showered with bubbles and the family released balloons as the girls were taken away.

Brother Aige, 5, who tried to save the girls by reaching out to them from the pool side, touched their coffins and kissed their photographs at the start of the ceremony.

Guests wore purple and blue as a nod to the girls favourite film, which Pastor Jake Smith said would carry “extraordinary meaning” for the family.

“(The girls) loved dancing, music and of course Frozen,” he said.

“They will be sisters forever. Clinging to each other throughout their lives and even in their final moments.”

Family friend Jonathan Redgen described four-year-old Taya as the energetic “leader of the pack”, while three-year-old Patricia was the shy one who brought joy with her smiles.

Concluding the service with a sense of hopefulness, Mr Young said he looked forward to seeing his daughters in the afterlife.

“I hope people walk away from this with a renewed spark in them”.
