Based on user results, Nameberry compiled this list of the top names for 2021. Luna is the most famous girl’s name in the United States, beating out Maeve and Aurora for the top spot. On the list of the top five boys’ names in the United States, retro names are a popular trend. Silas is followed by Atticus and Arlo, who make up the top three.

Nameberry also looked at international name patterns. Luna has the unique distinction of being well-liked all over the world. In addition to the United States, the name is the most common among girls in the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Japan, Germany, and Brazil.

The ranking reflects which names are currently common among site users, not generally which names parents are considering for their children in real life. While the list below isn’t official, it could be a good indicator of potential naming patterns. While the Social Security Administration only publishes baby-naming data once a year, Nameberry will be able to monitor changes in popularity in real time during 2021.
