Trinity Ottoson-Smith, 9, died after being shot while bouncing on a trampoline at a friend’s birthday party.

A nine-year-old girl was shot in the head while playing on a trampoline in north Minneapolis and died as a result of her injuries.

Trinity Ottoson-Smith had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks, according to sorrowful reports, but doctors were unable to save her.

“She struggled for her life for the last 12 days, and tonight that fight came to an end,” Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said.

“She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 4:04 p.m.”

On May 15, the nine-year-old was at a friend’s birthday party with other kids when she was hit by a gunshot.

Trinity was admitted to North Memorial Health Hospital in critical condition after being taken there.

“Our officers that arrived at this scene with the nine-year-old girl seriously injured with a gunshot to her head deliberately broke policy by picking her up, sprinting her to the squad, and transporting her to the hospital, doing everything they could to save her life,” Elder added. That is the identity of the Minneapolis Police Department.”

In recent weeks, the nine-year-old has become the third youngster to die as a result of gun violence in north Minneapolis.
Aniya Allen, six years old, was shot and killed while travelling in her family’s car last week. Meanwhile, 10-year-old Ladavionne Garrett Jr. was shot in his parents’ car on April 30. Ladavionne’s health is still critical.

The families of the victims are now waging a war on gun violence and demanding that those responsible for the shootings come forward. There is currently a $30,000 reward for information that leads to the resolution of the three cases.

“If you know who did this, come forward with that information; you can remain anonymous and still receive a monetary reward through CrimeStoppers,” Elder added.

My heart breaks for these children’s families. Guns are a dreadful blight on our society, and it pains me to watch people continue to die as a result of their careless use.
