Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his infant son has died.
The Manchester United striker, 37, and his 28-year-old partner Georgina Rodriguez were expecting twins.
Rodriguez gave birth to a daughter.
“It is with our deepest regret that we must announce that our baby child has passed away,” Ronaldo wrote on social media.
“It is the most agonizing pain that any parent can experience.”
“Only our baby girl’s birth gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”
“We want to express our gratitude to the doctors and nurses for their outstanding care and assistance.
“We are all crushed by this loss, and we respectfully want privacy during this terrible time.”
“You are our angel, our beautiful child.” “You will always be loved by us.”
Ronaldo had four children at the time. Cristiano Jr, his 11-year-old son, plays for United’s youngest squads.
“Your grief is our pain, Cristiano,” United wrote on Twitter.
“At this time, I’m sending love and strength to you and your family.”
“Real Madrid, its president and board of directors are very sorry by the passing of one of the children that our dear Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, were expecting,” the club said in a statement.
“Real Madrid sympathizes with the family’s plight and extends its heartfelt condolences.”
